Created at the start of the 2015 academic year by the Conference of Paris higher applied arts schools - Césaap -, the Design: creation, projet, transdisciplinarité programme is a Master 2 degree awarded by the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers - CNAM. It brings together students from the various fields of design.

To train designer-researchers capable of questioning the forms of the human environment as well as their own disciplinary field, this master has chosen a residency-based operation. Plunged into immersion, students discover, analyse and question the host institution, invest its resources and processes, and identify and engage projects that have the power of proposition for the future.

The Académie du Climat hosts this experimentation. A place of collective intelligence and action, this young institution aims to provide the means to understand, experiment and mobilise on climate challenges, as well as the possibilities of action to collectively build the paths towards a desirable future.

The young designers initiate collective projects that invest all fields of design, from mediation protocols to artisanal production. Collectively and individually, they draw on the institution’s resources, undertake collections and inventories of these resources and enrich them, engage in the reuse of materials, and mobilise the institution’s vital forces by proposing, in situ, meetings, exchanges, expertise and knowledge sharing.

The Master Design, création, projet, transdisciplinarité offers 20 places to students holding a Diplôme supérieur des Arts Appliqués - DSAA - or a master 1 related to the fields of art and design. Students are hosted in residency at the Académie du Climat from October to April. They are accompanied by teachers from the four Paris higher applied arts schools - Boulle, Duperré, Estienne, Ensaama. They form research and creation collectives to identify stakes and topics adapted to the residency context. Teaching and project tutoring develop within the framework of the Académie du Climat for the residency, at CNAM for part of the courses, and on the technical platforms of the four schools for the production phases.

Students design the editorial content of the master’s journal - Plateau - and the exhibitions dedicated to their productions.
The year ends with a five-month internship in a company or within a cultural institution.
